The MacLachlan Woodworking Museum will be participating in First Capital Days in Market Square on Wednesday, June 15. Come and celebrate the founding of Kingston as the first capital of Canada in this fun educational event in the beautiful setting of the oldest open air market in Canada.

Canoe Building Workshop
Adult Skills Workshop Series
In this workshop participants will learn all the skills to build a cedar strip canoe. Using hand tools and locally harvested eastern white cedar, the group will learn the basics of strongback design, selecting materials, building the bow and keel, laying in strips, and glassing the hull. At the end of the 7 days, students will get to paddle the vessel they built on Grass Creek.
Course will run 9-5 everyday from June 17th to June 24th. Cost:$350 per individual ($400 guardian/child)

Doors Open Kingston
During this annual event, Kingstonians and visitors have the chance to explore buildings around the city, even those that are not normally open to the public. Don’t forget to stop at the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum between 10am and 5pm for free guided tours every hour as well as woodworking demonstrations by the Kingston Woodturner's Association turning wood on the electric lathe. From the Tree: Designs in Wood
Saturday August 11, 10 am - 5 pm - During Sheepdog Trials
This annual show and sale brings together the finest area artisans to display and sell their wood-based works, from twig furniture to finely-made tableware. Local woodturners and carvers give demonstrations throughout the day.
